Motor Vehicle Injuries

admin • May 08, 2015

Automobile insurance claims can be complex. If you are injured in a collision there may be various sources of insurance coverage. However, North Carolina drivers are only required to have $30,000.00 in liability coverage. Therefore, if you are injured by a driver who has only purchased the required minimum limits, you will only have $30,000.00 in protection from that driver’s policy.

This situation arises frequently but there are alternatives. You may have coverage through your own policy that provides additional protection even if the other driver is at fault. You may even have coverage through a family member’s policy. Many injured people qualify for this additional coverage but do not know it. And many people do not realize that relying on this additional coverage should not increase their insurance premiums. Some of these coverage types are medical payments, uninsured motorist coverage, and underinsured motorist coverage.
